SCHOLARSHIP FOR AFRICANS IN JOURNALISM 2013/2014
For the eighth time the International Journalists Programmes “(JIP) provide a scholarship for a maximum of six young African Development Community (SADC Member States: Angola, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi , Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe) and up to five young German journalists.
For two months, the Southern African delegates will have the opportunity to work in Germany.
They will be integrated into the daily journalism of writing home also find stories for their home media.
It is assumed that all candidates have a good command of the English language.
German language skills are an advantage but is not mandatory.
Southern African delegates receive a fixed payment of 3,000 euros.
This should cover most of their travel, accommodation and subsistence. No payment will be made: Delegates are expected to use their own funds for the additional costs.
Payment for their work with the media host is not considered. To receive full participants grant are required to write a report of at least three pages and provide copies of their journalistic work published after return.
All journalists (SADC Member States) between 25 and 35 years who regularly work for a newspaper may apply.
