Codification Division of the Office of Legal Affairs of the tender The United Nations Development Programme Exchange Act under which the Program at the discretion teaching, study, dissemination and extension of international law, which is one of the cornerstones of the UN’s efforts in promoting the rule of law. Program of International Law Scholarship is designed to allow qualified individuals, especially the middle-ranking legal officers and young teachers of international law in developing countries and emerging economies, to deepen their knowledge of the law international.
The scholarship program consists of a summer course of six weeks the Peace Palace in The Hague, the Netherlands. Fellows take courses in Public International Law at the Hague Academy of International Law and participate in conferences and seminars organized by the Codification Division of the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs.
The scholarship program will cover the travel expenses of the recipient economy class fraternity, medical insurance, training materials and fees for the Hague Academy of International Law. In accordance with the policies and procedures governing the administration of United Nations fellowships, participants will receive a stipend to cover living expenses. Accommodation will be provided by the scholarship program.
Eligibility FOR THE UNITED NATIONS SCHOLARSHIP FOR POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS IN LAW 2013/2014-
• To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be between 24 and 40 years at the beginning of the scholarship program.
• They must be law graduates with practical experience in the field of international law acquired while working for a public or private agency or university. Applicants must certify that they are able to attend to the period covered by the program.
• Applicants must be able to provide evidence of their ability to attend and participate in conferences and seminars in English (eg, degree courses in English language test certificate, extensive experience in English).
• Preference will be given to applicants from countries whose nationals have not received a scholarship in the years immediately preceding and less suitable candidates in site.
