UNESCO PHD 2013 Scholarships for Africans
In order to promote international exchanges in education, culture, communication, science and technology and to strengthen the friendship between the peoples of the world, the Government of the People’s Republic of China has put at the disposal of UNESCO for the academic year 2013-2014, under the co-sponsorship of UNESCO, twenty five (25) graduate scholarships for graduate and postgraduate levels. These scholarships are for the benefit of developing Member States in Africa, Asia and the Pacific and certain countries in the Arab States (see list of countries invited).
These scholarships, which are in most cases be conducted in English are offered to advanced students who wish to pursue higher education or who intend to undertake research with the help of periodic individual assigned supervisor. In exceptional cases, applicants may be required to study the Chinese language before taking the research / study in their areas of interest.

QUALIFICATIONS for the UNESCO PHD 2013 Scholarships for Africans
(I.) Hold at least the equivalent of Master / or above Baccalaureate;
(Ii) Fluency in English is required;
(III) Do not be more than 45 years, and
(IV) Be in good health, both physically and mentally.
PROCEDURE FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS
All requests must be approved by the relevant government agency (the National Commission or Permanent Delegation) and must be in English with the following parts:
Application form (i.) for UNESCO / China (The Great Wall) Fellowship in triplicate;
(Ii) 3 photographs;
(III) notarized photocopies of diplomas and certificates, and school certified academic transcripts (translated into English if applicable) in triplicate;
(IV) A copy of the invitation letter from the university, students who were admitted in advance by a Chinese university, in triplicate;
(V) Two letters of recommendation (in English) by professors familiar with the applicant’s work, in triplicate;
(VI) A proposed study or research containing not less than 400 words (in English) of postgraduate study to be undertaken during the candidate’s stay in China, in triplicate;
(VII) as Foreigner Physical Examination must be completed and submitted to UNESCO before 15 March 2012 (copy attached) in triplicate, and
(VIII) Certificate of Proficiency in English in triplicate.

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS for the UNESCO PHD 2013 Scholarships for Africans
The letter of application must reach UNESCO (Attention: Ali Zaid, Chief of the Program Fellowship) 7, place de Fontenoy, 75352 Paris 07 SP, France, imperatively before 10 April 2013. A preliminary version of the application can be sent by fax (number +33-1 45 68 55 03) or email (j.manansala @ unesco.org).
Files that are not complete or received after the deadline above, as well as candidates who do not fulfill the conditions mentioned above will not be considered.
SELECTION OF BENEFICIARIES
The Chinese authorities will choose more than twenty-five (25) candidates. National Commissions selected fellows will be duly informed by UNESCO.
Candidates were not informed of their selection by 31 August 2013 should consider that their applications have not been approved
