Applications are invited for Coimbra Group Scholarship from young researchers from countries in the European Neighbourhood to spend a short stay at a Coimbra Group University to carry out part of their research work. Successful applicant will receive a monthly grant, which varies, depending on the chosen host university. Candidates may apply for one university only. The application deadline is 31 March 2015.
Study Subject(s): Scholarships are awarded in all disciplines offered by the host partner universities (except Saint Petersburg State University which includes only Physics, Chemistry, Information Technology, Biology, Management, Economics subjects and Karl-Franzens University of Graz which excludes Molecular Biosciences).

Scholarship can be taken at: Spain, Austria, Netherlands, Germany, Romania, Germany, Belgium, Italy, France, Russia, Spain, and Estonia.
-Applicants must fulfill all the following criteria: be under the age of 35
-be nationals of and current residents in one of the below-listed countries
-be current academic staff members of a university or an equivalent higher education institution located in one of the below-listed countries and be of postdoctoral or equivalent status, although some institutions may offer opportunities to doctoral students.
Scholarship Open for International Students: Applicants from Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Georgia, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Moldova, Montenegro, Morocco, the Palestinian Authority, Serbia, Syria, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan are eligible to apply for this scholarship programme.
Scholarship Description: Coimbra Group Universities have been providing, since 1999, young researchers from the European Neighbourhood with the opportunity to spend a short stay at a Coimbra Group Univerrsity to carry out part of their research work. The main aim of this scholarship programme is to enable scholars to undertake research in which they are engaged in their home institution and to help them to establish academic and research contacts. The scholarships are financially supported by the Coimbra Group member universities participating in this programme, while the Coimbra Group Office is in charge of the administrative management of the applications. Duration of award(s): University of Granada: maximum 3 months; Karl-Franzens University of Graz: 1 to 2 months; University of Groningen: maximum 3 months; Heidelberg University:- 1-2 months; Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi: maximum 3 months; Friedrich Schiller University Jena: 1-2 months; KU Leuven: 2 months; University of Padova: 1-3 months (in the interval September -June); University of Poitiers: 2 weeks to 1 month; Saint Petersburg State University: 1 -3 months (in exceptional cases may be up to 12 months); University of Salamanca: 1 month and University of Tartu: 1-2 months.
What does it cover? Scholarships covers according to the university:-
-University of Granada: €900 per month + health insurance + reimbursement of travel expenses up to €800
-Karl-Franzens University of Graz: €1000 per month + reimbursement of travel expenses up to €300
-University of Groningen: €1190 per month (to cover housing and other expenses) + reimbursement of travel costs up to €500 + health insurance (about €40 per month).
-Heidelberg University: €900 per month
-Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi: reimbursement of travel expenses up to €350 + the University will cover accommodation and meals
-Friedrich Schiller University Jena: €1000 per month + reimbursement of travel expenses up to €500 + reimbursement of health insurance costs
-KU Leuven:- €1600 per month to cover all costs (accommodation, food, and other expenses) + third party liability insurance and medical insurance for two months
-University of Padova: €800 per month to cover all costs (accommodation, food, and other expenses) + reimbursement of travel expenses up to €500
-University of Poitiers: €1000 per month + reimbursement of travel expenses up to €300
-Saint Petersburg State University: 25000 rubles per month
-University of Salamanca: the University will provide accommodation and food
-University of Tartu: €830 per month (to cover food, accommodation in university modern dormitories and other expenses).
Selection Criteria: The administrative check of applications will be undertaken by the Coimbra Group Office in order to select candidates who meet the eligibility criteria. The selection of candidates will be undertaken by the host universities. When selection has been agreed upon, the host university may send a letter of invitation directly to the successful candidate. The Coimbra Group Office will contact all candidates and inform them about the result of their application. Successful candidates currently employed by a University are responsible for ensuring that their home institution will grant them leave of absence to undertake the proposed visit.
Notification: Applicants will receive a confirmation message from the Coimbra Group Office within one week following the submission of their application.
How to Apply: Candidates may apply for one university only. Multiple applications will not be considered valid. Only the listed universities are taking part in the 2015 edition of the Coimbra Group Scholarship Programme. Applicants will be able to fill in the online registration until 31 March 2015 on the Coimbra Group web site. Candidates must indicate the name and contact details of an academic supervisor at the host university and provide proof of acceptance (a letter or e-mail) by this supervisor where it is clearly stated that he/she is willing to supervise the work of the candidate during the research stay at the Coimbra Group University. This letter should be uploaded on the application form. Applications which do not fulfil this requirement will not be considered.
