2013 Commonwealth Competition
Each year, the Commonwealth Essay Competition, run by the Royal Commonwealth Society since 1883, inspires thousands of young writers from around the world. It is the largest and competitive world of international writing schools. Past winners include Mr Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of Singapore and Elspeth Huxley.

If this is the case, the Commonwealth Essay Competition is definitely for you. We encourage you to be creative in your response to questions. You can submit a poem, a letter, an article, story, essay or even a short play. The choice is yours. Just get it in writing!
The competition is free to enter and in 2012 more than 1,000 young writers and 245 schools in 38 countries across the Commonwealth received an award for their entry.
2013 Commonwealth Competition , the Royal Commonwealth Society is pleased to announce that the contest will be held in partnership with Cambridge University Press, whose support will enable the organization to engage more young writers of the Commonwealth.
The competition recognizes and nurtures the creativity of young people across the Commonwealth, providing a platform for students to compete with their peers in each of the 54 countries that make up this unique combination.
Participants are judged in two age groups, Junior (under 14) and Senior (14-18 years).
Junior (born after 1 May 1999)
1. When is this hard work has paid off for you?
2. Creative thinking saved the day.
3. Tell us a moment of opportunity that has changed the lives of your family, community, country, continent or planet.
4. Is change a good thing?
5. Gogo occasion!
Senior Category (born 2 May 1994 and 1 May 1999)
1. Funding agency has asked you to make a pitch for an idea involving schools will benefit your community.
2. “I knew it was my time.”
3. Discuss one or more examples of social and / or environmental as business games or may play a key role in changing the way people live.
4. “How enterprising!” Says a voice I closed the door behind me.
5. Are we too aware of the risks these days?

The closing date is 1 May 2013 and results will be announced in the fall of next year, when a winning junior and senior and a finalist will be announced and judges are a number of Gold, Silver and Bronze.
Participants may submit their essays online since early 2013.
