James Henry Green Charitable Trust through the James Green Centre for World Art offers a program of advanced research in the Department of Art History at the University of Sussex. To be eligible the applicant must have been from the degree in October 2013. The postgraduate research (PhD) scholarship is given to UK, EU and international (Non-UK/EU) citizens. The scholarship covers tuition “original” and an annual award of the book of 1000 pounds. The purpose of this award is to build and share knowledge about Royal Pavilion and Museums holdings “rich visual and material culture of Africa, Asia, the Pacific and the Americas. Applications must be submitted until 1 May 2013.

Scholarship Description: The scholarship is offered by the Trust James Henry Green Charitable through the James Green Centre for World Art at Royal Pavilion & Museums (RP & M), Brighton & Hove. The purpose of this award is to build and share knowledge on funds RP & M rich material culture and visual Africa, Asia, the Pacific and the Americas. For this reason, the main requirement of the grant is that the proposed doctoral research considers some aspects of the art collection in the world. Other requirements include an annual report, and at some point during the exchange, a common outcome for staff and visitors to Brighton Museum & Art Gallery (eg an article, conference or exhibition on the project web research). The purse holder is also expected to make a presentation on the topic of their doctoral research to the trustees of the charitable trust Henry James Green at their annual general meeting during their tenure of the scholarship.

Duration of the scholarship (s): Scholarships will be awarded for three years for full-time students, or during a period of time equal to or relevant for part-time and current students.

What is the coverage? The scholarship will be the value of the equivalent amount of home / EU fees in the year for full-time students, or pro rata for part-time students. This is an additional fund of £ 1,000 for the purchase of books for each year of the award.
