Scholarship Guidelines

 


FOR FIRST-TIME UNDERGRADUATE FRESHMEN

Presidential Scholarship-NOTE: THE DEADLINE FOR FALL 2015 HAS NOW PASSED. THE NEXT AVAILABLE TERM IS SPRING 2016. THE NOMINATION FORM AND ALL REQUIRED APPLICATION DOCUMENTS MUST REACH US BY NOVEMBER 1, 2015. THE NOMINATION FORM WILL BE PUT BACK ONLINE ON MAY 1, 2015 FOR SPRING 2016 APPLICANTS.

Full tuition

Consideration given to students meeting the following criteria:

  • First-time, full time undergraduate freshmen
  • On-campus housing required for the duration of study
  • SAT composite score of 1300 or above (Critical Reading + Math) out of 1600 or ACT score of 29
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5 or above
  • Nomination required from a guidance/career counselor or an EducationUSA advisor. Nominations from agents/consultants not accepted. Nomination form for spring 2016 applicants will be put online beginning on May 1, 2015. This must be submitted and signed by a guidance counselor or EdUSA advisor and mailed in with all official documents (or scanned via docufide for registered schools).
  • Nomination, application and all required documents must be received by January 15 for the fall/August semester or by November 1 for the spring/January semester.

Col. Fairleigh S. Dickinson Scholarship

$11,000 to $30,000 per year

  • Academic scholarships awarded to qualified, first-time undergraduate freshmen.
  • Recommended criteria: SAT (CR + Math) = 1050 or ACT = 23 and a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
  • Renewable up to four years.

FDU International Scholarship

$1,000 to $15,000 per year

  • Based on academic merit and demonstrated financial need.
  • SAT/ACT not required.
  • Renewable up to four years.

Global Housing Grant

$3,000 per year (renewable up to 2 years)

  • For students living on campus at the Metropolitan Campus ONLY.
  • Based on academic merit, financial need and extracurricular involvement.


FOR UNDERGRADUATE TRANSFER STUDENTS

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

$16,000 per year

  • Recognizes the academic merit of transfer students studying at community colleges in the United States who are demonstrated members of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK).
  • Proof of PTK membership must be attached to application for admission.
  • Candidates must have completed at least 24 credits of college-level work.
  • Renewable annually.

FDU International Transfer Scholarship

$1,000 to $12,000 per year

  • Based on academic merit and demonstrated financial need.


FOR GRADUATE/MASTER’S DEGREE STUDENTS

FDU International Graduate Scholarship

$1,000 to $10,000 per year

  • Based on academic merit and demonstrated financial need.


FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS (Freshmen and Transfer)

FDU Family Grant

$1,500 per year

  • Families with two or more dependent children simultaneously attending FDU as full-time undergraduate students receive a $1,500 grant for each student enrolled.
  • Maximum of $1,500 awarded per person annually while both students are enrolled. Certain restrictions apply.

Children of Alumni Grant

$1,500 per year

  • Provides a grant of $1,500 to undergraduate sons and daughters of Fairleigh Dickinson University alumni.
  • Awarded annually based on continued full-time enrollment.

Athletic Scholarships

Award Amount Varies (up to full tuition and housing)

  • Recognizes superior athletic ability of students participating in the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s Division I sports at the Metropolitan Campus.
  • All recipients are subject to Division I rules and regulations of the NCAA. For information, visit www.fdu.edu/athletics.


FOR ALL STUDENTS (Freshmen, Transfer and Graduate)

Alumni-Trustee-Faculty Endorsement Grant

$1,000 (a one-time grant)

  • Provides a one-time $1,000 grant to new full-time students during their first year of attendance.
  • Requires a recommendation from an FDU graduate, faculty member or trustee.
  • Recommendation form included in online and paper applications can be found at Important Documents

ELS English Language Center Grant

$5,000 per year

  • Awarded to graduates of ELS EAP level 112 (certain restrictions apply).
  • ELS students who qualify for a merit-based scholarship greater than $5,000 per year will not receive the ELS grant.

SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES

  • Scholarship consideration is given to non-U.S. citizens worldwide and to U.S. citizens who reside outside the United States.
  • Scholarship awards vary in amount, however many are significant enough to help academically talented students with the cost of attendance.
  • Scholarship award notification will be sent at the time of admission.
  • Scholarships are awarded at the time of admission ONLY and will not increase based on academic performance at FDU.
  • Early application is encouraged to receive priority consideration.
  • Scholarships may be used for the fall and spring semesters for full-time students only.
  • Scholarships are renewable at the same funding level for each academic year, contingent upon successful academic performance.
  • Awards may not be used at other institutions.
