2016-2017 Al Alfi Foundation Sustainable Development Fellowship for Egyptian citizens to study in Egypt


Al Alfi Foundation Sustainable Development Fellowship is available for Egyptian students in 2016-2017. This fellowship is offered for pursuing master’s degree in sustainable development.

Al Alfi Foundation Sustainable Development Fellowship is jointly offered by the Al Alfi Foundation and AUC, represented by the Center for Sustainable Development. The program is designed to identify and prepare future leaders who are Egyptian nationals and who have strong knowledge and skills in science, engineering, business, policy and social sciences.

The long-term objective of the program is to develop a new cadre of entrepreneurial leaders who are capable of filling critical positions in industry, public sector and civil-society organizations in Egypt, and who can successfully integrate technical, business and social skills to contribute to comprehensive sustainable development in Egypt and beyond.

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and possess a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or the equivelant of gayed gidan.

Course Level: Fellowship is available for pursuing master programme.

Study Subject: Fellowship is awarded for master in science in sustainable development.

Eligibility: Applicants must:
-Be Egyptian citizens
-Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Candidates must also have a background in science, engineering, policy, business or social sciences.
-Possess a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or the equivelant of gayed gidan (very good)
-Be admitted into the master’s program in sustainable development
-Provide a written statement that outlines their research and/or professional experience, as well as their future career goals. Financial difficulties should also be indicated in the statement.

Nationality: Egyptian citizens can apply for this fellowship.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: Applicant must possess a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or the equivelant of gayed gidan.

Test Requirement (GRE): Applicants to the PhD program, master’s in economics and master’s in economics in international development must submit an acceptable official GRE score report or have it sent directly to the University.

English Language Requirement:
-Non-native speakers of English are required to present valid TOEFL iBT or IELTS test results, achieving the minimum cut-off scores required by the University. Validity for both tests is two years.
-Graduate applicants who hold degrees from an accredited university where English is the only language of instruction may be exempted from presenting evidence of academic English proficiency, unless they are applying for the African Graduate Fellowship, whereby English test results must be provided.
-AUC’s score recipient code is 0903.
-English exemption is determined by the Office of Graduate Admissions upon evaluation of the complete graduate applications and credentials.

Supporting Material: The required components for complete application packet are as follows:-
-Application form, filled out as per the instructions indicated at the end of the form.
-Personal statement (Form 2) of no less than 500 words. Applicants selecting two programs for admission consideration should include two separate statements.
-Updated CV that must include work experience and educational background.
-Official transcript(s) from all higher education institutions attended, with proof of degree completion. Unofficial, clear, scanned copies are acceptable for processing purposes, but final admission is not granted until the original, official transcripts are submitted, reviewed and approved by the Office of Graduate Admissions.
-Two letters of recommendation. PhD applicants are required to submit three letters of recommendation.
-Medical reports: Valid for Egyptian applicants if taken within six months prior to registration. -Proof of financial resources to meet costs of AUC
-Clear copy of both sides of the National ID.
-Clear copy of the electronic birth certificate.
-Military service certificate (for Egyptian males), to be submitted with the original certificate, which will be photocopied and stamped as a true copy at AUC’s Student Service Center.
