Association of Commonwealth University Summer School for Undergraduates Commonwealth countries to study in Hong Kong 2018

Applications are now being accepted for the Association of Commonwealth University Summer School for Undergraduates Commonwealth countries to study in Hong Kong 2018;eligible candidates are urged to apply immediately.

The 2018 School will be a stimulating week of expert lectures by local and international speakers, skills development, social events providing insights into the fascinating culture of Hong Kong, group work, networking opportunities, and field trips to key sites such as the Jao Tsung-I Academy, the Blue House Cluster, and the Mapopo Community Farm.

The Summer School programme has been developed by senior academics from The Chinese University of Hong Kong’s well-established Urban Studies programmAssociation of Commonwealth University Summer School for Undergraduate Commonwealth countries to study in Hong Kong 2018e. It’s a small and friendly event which is capped at 50 participants.

Who can attend?

-All ACU Summer School participants must, at the time of application, be studying at a university in a Commonwealth country. Students at ACU member universities in Hong Kong, the Maldives, and Zimbabwe can also apply.

-At the time of application, all participants must either be studying for a postgraduate degree (Master’s/PhD) or in the final year of an undergraduate degree.

-Applications are welcomed from students of all subject backgrounds who can demonstrate an interest in the theme. Students who have attended the ACU Summer School in a previous year are not eligible to apply.

Registration fees

  • Discount registration rate – students from ACU member institutions: 400 GBP.
  • Full registration rate – students from non-member institutions: 500 GBP.

Registration fees cover full Summer School participation including the academic programme, social events and site visits, accommodation, most meals and airport pick-ups. They do not include flights or the cost of visas and health insurance. Participants are responsible for making their own visa arrangements.

Successful applicants will be contacted for payment before registration can be completed.

The registration fee is £400 GBP for students from ACU member universities and £500 GBP for students from non-member institutions.

Participants must be current postgraduate or final year undergraduate students. More information on eligibility and fees can be found here.

A number of bursaries are available for students from ACU member universities. Please ensure that you meet the bursary criteria before applying.

How to apply

As part of the application you will be asked to submit an academic reference and answer a series of questions about your knowledge of and interest in the subject, your reasons for wishing to participate and, if applying for a bursary, your plans for disseminating the knowledge gained at the Summer School and why you believe a bursary should be awarded to you.

You will need to create an account in order to access the application form. This means that you will be able to save the form when partially completed and go back to it.

The application deadline is 23:59 GMT on Sunday 14 January.
