African Leadership Academy MBA Internship 2018
African Leadership Academy (ALA) seeks to transform Africa by developing thousands of leaders for the continent over the next few decades. The Academy is founded on the philosophy that a new generation of ethical, committed leaders is the key to Africa’s development. ALA seeks to become training ground for these future leaders and draws the most outstanding students from all 54 countries in Africa to its campus in South Africa. Here, they build a powerful intellectual foundation and develop their leadership capacity through ALA’s unique curriculum in Entrepreneurial Leadership.
ALA unique curriculum seeks to empower every young leader with the skills necessary to lead on the African continent in the 21st century.
ALA’s Summer Internship is a residential program at ALA’s campus in Johannesburg, South Africa held between June and September each year. ALA summer internships provide MBA students a unique opportunity to gain exposure to professional experience, training, and mentorship in the African context. Every year ALA welcome a cohort of dynamic, talented students who join the Academy’s internship program. In the past we have had students from Harvard, Stanford, INSEAD and London Business School among others.
The MBA interns work on ‘Strategic Initiatives’ projects over 4‐8 weeks in various departments at ALA such as Finance, Admissions, Entrepreneurial Leadership, Global Programs, Academics and Marketing to name a few. We have several fixed scope projects planned for summer 2016 and would be excited to engage with Columbia MBA interns on these opportunities.
The internship period also provides MBA students with an opportunity to understand the continent and our organisation, engage with ALA’s staffulty (staff and faculty) and attend some of our flagship events on campus.
