Yale Young African Scholars Program For 2019
The Yale Young African Scholars Program (YYAS) is excited to announce that our 2019 application is now available online!
With continued support from the Higherlife Foundation, YYAS brings together African secondary school students between the ages of 15–18 for a tuition-free, intensive academic and leadership program that lasts eight-days per session. Next year the program will hold in three countries—Ghana, Kenya, and Zimbabwe—between late July and end of August.
Application and Eligibility Requirements
Prospective applicants must currently attend secondary school in an African country and set to graduate after August 2019. In addition, applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of an African country.
Selected participants will be self-starters who have an interest in pursuing post-secondary education, are in excellent academic standing, and demonstrate leadership potential. A full list of eligibility criteria can be found here.
To apply, students must submit an online application form which includes one essay and two short-answer responses. Students must also upload an official school transcript or grade report, as well as one recommendation written by a teacher who knows them well and has taught them in an academic subject. The deadline to submit all materials is 06th February 2019 at 11:59pm EST.
